For our first blog/review, we decided to visit the Sunshine Cafe! It was the first time either of us had been there, and overall, we really enjoyed it.
Sunshine Cafe is located on Oakwood, not too far off campus, which is good for BSU students. They have an extensive menu, with breakfast being served 24/7. It's a cute little place, which reminds you of a Mom and Pop restaurant, with the old music from the 60s to boot. The waitresses were really nice, and overall, it was really clean.
Hey, this is Andrew speaking. Even though they serve breakfast all the time, I'm not one to get that kind of thing unless it really is for breakfast (and even then not so much- eggs are overused), so I decided to get a classic dinner. I ordered the Southern Fried Catfish which came with two sides, in this case I got mac & cheese and rice. When it came out (which wasn't too long) it all looked pretty good. The fish had a definite spice to it but it was good for the price I paid (and the amount I got!). I was kinda disappointed with the mac & cheese and rice. The macaroni tasted sorta like it was a frozen entrée heated, and the rice tasted like Lipton instant rice in a bag, or something like that. Don't get me wrong, they were good, but when you eat out, you expect it to taste like it didn't come from Walmart. Also, I had tried to order a cherry coke, but they only had "regular coke." Not surprising, but don't most places just make a cherry coke with the cherry syrup? I think that tastes a lot better, actually, but it's rare I'm denied a Cherry Coke, so, take that however you want. Overall, for almost $10 my fish dinner was a fair deal despite some questionable sides. Next time I'll get the mashed potatoes and salad instead.
After much deliberation over the menu, I, Dani, got breakfast! I had the Supreme Three Egg Omelet, which came with your choice of hash browns or grits (hash browns), and a side of toast, pancakes, or biscuits (biscuits). The omelet itself had peppers, onion, bacon, ham, and cheese in it. And it was delish! With a little ketchup, it was amazing!!! I also got hot chocolate, and while the hot chocolate was pretty good (you get one free refill) the whipped cream they put on top of it is amazing. It's very thick, and is definetly not your typical Cool Whip (say it like Stewie Griffin). It was really rich, and amazing. I had to eat it with a spoon before I could get to the hot chocolate.
For the typical BSU student this meal is perfect. The menu is very cheap, I think we both ate for under $10 before tax, and you get a lot of good food for the price.
the breakfast stuff looks really good especially the hot chocolate :)
